The Triple Crown Concept of Equine Nutrition

The Triple Crown Concept of Nutrition is a simple staged pyramid feeding system that provides a flexible way of ensuring your horse or pony has the correct balance of daily nutrients from maintenance through to hard work. The concept is based on the fact that fibre, in the form of forage i.e. pasture or hay, is the natural way to feed all horses regardless of workload or growth requirements.

The Triple Crown feeds are in a concentrated form and therefore allow you to feed smaller quantities of hard feed, whilst providing the extra nutrients required for horses at all work levels or requiring condition or growth. Triple Crown provides cost-effective concentrated goodness for your horse.

So how does Triple Crown work?

Provide good quality forage for up to 50% of your horses daily intake. A horse requires 1-2% of his body weight in feed daily. This can be in the form of pasture, hay or bagged chopped fibre.

Add one of the Triple Crown Basefeeds: Evenkeel for good doers or Equipower for horses in light to medium work. Both of these feeds are high in vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids to balance the deficiencies of forage and meet the full spectrum of nutrients required daily.

Further add, one of the Triple Crown Performance feeds, Extruform or Triple Top-Up, if you require extra energy and increased levels of vital nutrients to meet the nutritional requirements of horses in medium to hard work, reproduction or requiring extra condition.

When fed at recommended levels with good quality forage will produce a ration suitable for light work.
